Discovering Streaky Bay, South Australia

As you are thinking about buying a motorhome at one of your local caravan sales, you may have some incredible road trip destinations in mind. Or, you may not. If you are considering a trip in the down under and want to find the best location for some time away from your regular life, may we suggest Streaky Bay in south Australia?

While choosing the right camper at caravan sales is important, knowing about your destinations is just as important. One thing is certain when it comes to Streaky Bay. It’s a gorgeous coastal town that will definitely help you to forget your work and problems back home.

The following highlights are only a few of the best things about Streaky Bay:

  • Check out Whistling Rocks. This gorgeous spot is ideal for fabulous oceanside photos that will be both captivating and beautiful. With the soft limestone cliffs overlooking the ocean, the sunlight gives the rock a rusty tone that looks amazing contrasting with the hues of the ocean. This spot is called Whistling Rocks due to the sounds made by blow holes in the rocks. If you can make it there for the sunset, you won’t be disappointed.
  • Visit Point Labatt Conservation Park. Not only is this a spectacular place to visit with fascinating views, but it’s also where you will find some incredible animals in the wild. A unique spot where fur seals and sea lions congregate, it is truly a once in a life time experience. Don’t worry, you don’t have to get up close and personal to view these animals (as that could be a bit frightening). There is a viewing platform where you can watch them safely from above. You can also cycle in the park, which is bound to be a lot of fun for the avid cyclist.
  • Eat seafood while in town. That is, if you like seafood. If you do, there really isn’t a better place for you to enjoy some of the best abalone, prawns, and oysters to be found in the world. It’s also a fabulous area for those who want to enjoy some of the best wines in the region. While it isn’t what it’s necessarily famous for, Streaky Bay is certainly a fantastic destination for enjoying gourmet meals.
  • Visit Murphy’s Haystacks. Reminiscent of Stonehenge, this South Australia site is quite fascinating. They were discovered when a passerby saw them and thought they looked like giant haystacks—which they very well could from a distance. Up close, these rocks have fascinating formations that are just as unique as they are. They are believed to be more than 1000 million years old and are truly a wonder to behold, if you like observing abnormalities around the world.
  • Go beaching or surfing while in the area. Because Streaky Bay is near the water, you’ll want to make sure to get the most out of your visit. There are plenty of spots for surfing, where you can catch great breaks, as well as beaches that are both beautiful and relaxing. Just make sure to inform yourself beforehand, as this area is notorious for the big and beautiful great white sharks. Perlubie Beach is a great favorite for campers and beachgoers who want to relax and enjoy some fun time in the sun. Granites is a popular beach for surfers and is gorgeous, as well.
  • Enjoy the city. If after doing all of the above, you still have time leftover, go ahead and explore the city. From places like the Streaky Bay National Trust Museum to the Balfour House, there are many historical places that you may want to visit. Even Streaky Bay’s jetty has some historical background. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to check out some great cafes, bars, and restaurants, and get to know the locals.
  • South Australia is a favorite destination for many a traveler visiting Australia. It’s rich in landscapes and things to do. Streaky Bay just happens to be a highlight for many who visit this Australian state. It could be because of it’s laid-back feel or the abundance of iconic places to see.

Whether you’re in the mood for water and surfing or you would rather explore the city and its great seafood, there is something to do for any type of individual. You can explore the famous spots like Whistling Rocks or Murphy’s Haystacks or simply chill out and relax on the beach.

As you make your decision on the right camper for you in your local caravan sales, you now have an idea of places to see in Australia. Having your own bed to take with you wherever you go is certainly an attractive option. Plus, you’ll have the freedom to more easily see more places in Australia, just as beautiful as Streaky Bay.
