Ten Pieces Of Tech We Just Couldn’t Live Without

There are so many pieces of technology that we take for granted in today’s world. Popular devices have moved on considerably throughout the years but do you ever stop to think about what you’d do without some of the following pieces of technology.

Computers and laptops

We use computers daily at work without questioning how we’d get by without one. From emails and spreadsheets to using the Internet – it’s all accessible in one place. Laptops allow us to work, study and stay in touch with people around the world whilst we are on the move or in the comfort of your own home.

Students rely heavily on laptops to take notes in lectures, conduct research and write essays. Gone are the days we used to use pen and paper to make notes and draft our dissertations, Universities often expect students to own their own laptops rather than rely on University equipment. Back ups are essential to do on a regular basis to ensure that important work and documents are not lost through technology failures such as the hard-drive corrupting.

Phone

Remember the days when you couldn’t leave the room when the house phone rang? Attached by a cord and limited to one area, phones where restrictive and would often cost a high amount to make just one call.

Not anymore, welcome the cordless phone and mobile phones devices – they opened a world of being able to stay in contact with one another.

Mobile phones now allow people to stay up-to-date with the latest news, and gossip, find information at the drop of a hat and provide easy access to a range of social media platforms.

Charger

What use would a mobile phone and camera be without a charger? With the amount we use our phones everyday its rare that a battery will last longer than 24 hours, we rely on our chargers each day to provide us with the technology we have got so used to using on a daily basis.

Tablet

A fairly new addition to the world of technology almost everyone has invested in a tablet or a Kindle. A tablet provides quick access to popular websites such as YouTube and Facebook and allows us to play music from the radio.

Kindles are a popular form of tablet with a wide variety of books that can be purchased and read page by page like the real thing.

Camera

Whether for work or pleasure, a camera allows us to capture a moment in time creating a memory that you can visually share with family, friends and social media followers. It’s worth investing in a good quality camera rather than just replying on your mobile phone. Smartphones may have a high quality camera built in but camera such as the GoPro have been created to take exceptional photos and videos with high quality results.

Have you ever gone on holiday or a city break and not taken a single photo to help build your memorabilia? We all appreciate what a camera can do for us but we mustn’t become so reliant on them that we forget to enjoy the moment and make a lasting memory.

Bluetooth headset

We all know that driving whilst on the phone is illegal and incurs fines so we have welcomed Bluetooth headsets and hands free devices with open arms.
It allows you to update people if you are running late without putting yourself and other road drivers at harm.

Satellite Navigation

Technology has moved on and many cars have a satellite navigation system built in to their cars along with a digital radio. However a high percentage of us heavily rely on a portable ‘sat nav’ to guide us from a to b.

Games Console

More popular with the male population than they female, it’s a way to unwind at the end of the day and in your own time. Exploring the world of animated and clever technology games consoles provide endless entertainment and are highly popular across the globe with the latest new device never far away.

MP3 player / iPod

Distracting yourself on a train to entertaining friends, MP3 players and iPods provide entertainment when you need it most. Some MP3 players also perform as a recording device too allowing you to record lectures and seminars for work and study.

Hard-drive

If you work with a lot of data or perhaps you enjoy making videos, it is essential to back up your work with an external hard-drive. Hard-drives allow you to access any data or work that you may need at anytime without the need of using your computer or laptop. Hard-drives are often used to store large amounts of music and film downloads too.

If you think you have an idea for the next big piece of technology or even an amazing app to change peoples lives then what are you waiting for? Put your ideas into your practice and look into making your idea come to life. Invest in a good technology solicitor especially one with expertise in apps, companies such as Waterfront Solicitors in London have experience in dealing with individuals and businesses. A law firm can help provide all the legal information you need to make you idea into a reality.

  1. It’s amazing how attached we are to electronic devices. I look back at when I was growing up and kind of miss those times. Every once in awhile its good to unplug, take a trip where you let go and just explore. We did that just a couple of months ago, the kids had a blast.

  2. This post is pretty true! I don’t use all of these, and I know there are some of them I could live better without than others. One that I would really need is my laptop! As a blogger, I do spend a fair amount of time on there. That much I can admit! :D
