Fall has so many wonderful decorative elements to play around with that it’s easy and inexpensive to decorate your home, making it warm and inviting for cooler weather and the holidays. Read on for some beautiful ways to bring your home into fall.
1. Sparkly Pumpkin Centerpiece
Buy a cheap Styrofoam pumpkin from a dollar store or crafting retailer. Use a hole saw bit and create a tea-light candle sized hole in the pumpkin with a cordless drill. Scrape out the excess Styrofoam so there’s enough space for your candle. Spray paint the piece with a glittery color and use a clear coating on top so that the sparkles don’t come off. Light the candle inside and voila! A beautiful centerpiece for your fall table.
2. Floral Table Runner
Make a gorgeous and one-of-a-kind table runner with Italian ruscus, floral wire and fall colored fabric flowers, like these from HairBow Center. Set up individual bunches of foliage and secure them with the wire. Layer the bunches on the table and then add in the flowers, evenly distributing them throughout the greenery. Employ flowers in a mix of sizes and colors and assemble them in groups of twos and threes. If your table will be outdoors, make sure to hot glue the flowers to the greens, otherwise they can simply rest on top and within.
3. Table Luminaries
Luminaries are not just for outdoors – they can be gorgeous additions to your fall table. Take a brown paper bag and make leaf cutouts with a template and a nail. Scallop the top edge of the bag for a prettier motif. Place a votive candle inside to produce a soft glow.
4. Corn Husk Food Can Vases
Adhere strips of cornhusk with hot glue to completely cover old food cans, making sure any sharp edges are safely covered. Wrap a ribbon piece around the can and knot it, trimming edges to prevent fraying. Place bunches of flowers within each can and fluff them so that they sit the way you like. You can stick to one color of flower per can for a cohesive aesthetic, or vary them.
5. Acorn Centerpiece
Wrap a tall glass candleholder with a few rows of decorative twine and fill it with acorns. Place one thicker candle or several thinner candles in the center of the acorns, shimmying them down so that they stay in place securely. Make sure to choose a candle color that’s fall-appropriate: reds, oranges and yellows are great options.
