Sometimes, it can be difficult to realize that you’re closer to success than you think. Here are nine reasons why you’re doing better than you think.
1. You’re on your own path; you’re not on anyone else’s path. One of the main contributors to success, as well as happiness, is being comfortable with the true you. You shouldn’t trade your authenticity for a role others expect you to play.
2. You’re working through your fears. It’s counterintuitive to run from your fears; they’re going to be waiting for you at some point in the future. When you’re willing to deal with what’s scaring you, you set yourself free. It’s always better to face your fears now rather than later.
3. You’ve failed, but it hasn’t stopped you. Every single success story has mini-stories of failures, both big and small. Some of your best insight will come from your failures, not your accomplishments. When you can learn from your failures and then move on, you’ve truly succeeded.
4. You learn something new every single day. It’s important to stray from the path in order to continue moving forward. You need to open yourself up to new knowledge and experiences in order to grow as a person. When you’re not afraid to get out of your comfort zone, you open yourself up to a world of experiences and knowledge you didn’t even know existed.
5. You give back to the community. Owner Kenny Slaught and other do-gooders know the importance of making a positive impact on the community by volunteering, attending fundraisers or making another type of contribution. The more you do for other people, the better you’ll feel about yourself and your purpose in life.
6. You’ve overcome serious obstacles. At this point, you know that nothing is ever as bad as it seems. Since you’ve handled huge changes and obstacles in your life, the small obstacles don’t seem all that daunting. You’re able to take things in stride and you don’t sweat the small stuff.
7. You love what is happening at the moment and what you have. A huge part of being successful is not getting everything you want, but instead wanting everything you have. When you accept the things that are currently in your life, you can appreciate them or let them go.
8. You strive to be present. There’s nothing that’s worth more than today. You know that you can’t change what happened in the past or predict what’s going to happen in the future, so you choose to live in the present moment, always.
9. You love yourself first, and that’s more important that knowing if everyone else loves you. You’re not selfish for putting yourself first, you’re just self-aware.
Everyone feels like they’re less-than-successful at one point or another. Sometimes, you have to take a step back and focus on all of the things that are going right instead of dwelling on the things that are going wrong.
Thanks for the reminder that I need to be easier on myself. I think (and most likely others, do, too), that I am my own worst enemy. I can forgive other people, but have a tough time forgiving myself. #9 is toughest for me – loving myself. Some days I just cannot stand who I am, and what I’ve done! It takes work…but I’m trying!
