When you find that one person in this world, that you know you cannot live without, you want them to know just how much they mean to you. However, you’re not ready to ask them to spend forever with you, one way to let the other person know you are serious is to get them a promise ring.
Promise rings are one way for you to show that special person that you love them, and you’re wanting to make that promise to them, that one day you will be united as one. Promise rings are the step before the engagement ring, and usually are given by high-school sweethearts. With high school students leaving their parents homes and going off to college, they also leave behind their high school love.
So when a promise ring is given, it symbolizes your love for one another, and lets the other party know you will be faithful and waiting for them and distance will not break the love you have for one another.
How many of you were given promise rings by your first love? Did everything lead to a happy wedding, or did it lead to a broken promise? My husband and I were not high school sweethearts, however, we did get together at a young age. We skipped the whole promise ring stage and went right to the engagement ring then the wedding band.
While promise rings, engagement rings, and wedding bands have different meanings to some, to me there away to show commitment to one another. My ring symbolizes a lot more than just a ring, it symbolizes a forever with my husband, a bond that we both share that cannot be broken. A love so strong, that know matter what is thrown in the paths of our lives, we will get through it together as one.
