Growing up as a child we would always go to the fairs when they came to town. We would spend hours on end at the fairs, even if we were just walking around. With being in 4-H we spent a lot of our time in the barns looking at all the crafts other members submitted as well as the different animals.
I remember we would sit and watch the horse shows and be in awe over their riding clothes. Often times when it was time for them to show their horses they had on nice dress shirts, riding breeches, cowboy hat, and cowboy boots.
Even the younger groups wore about the same. I had a friend that showed her horse, the amount of time and dedication one puts into riding and showing is amazing. I remember when I would stay with her we would have to get up bright and early to tend to everything out on her family farm. In away it was fun, but I liked watching and tending to the horses the best.
We have horse stables down the road from us, they offer riding lessons. Gillian has started to show interest in riding. My husband and I have been thinking about getting her into the 4-H around here. It helped me growing up, and I know she would enjoy it.
