Read the top 7 tips to smelling great all day long below.

1. Watch Your Diet

We’ve all heard the saying, “You are what you eat”. Well, guess what? That saying includes your scent as well.

With spices, garlic, and onions may taste good going down, the smell of these foods can linger on your body for a couple of days. And no, we’re not just talking about your breath.

This smells can emit through your skin as well.

And, it’s not just food that you need to watch out for. Certain beverages can also wreak havoc on your scent. Particularly, sugary drinks and alcoholic drinks.
The solution?

Stick to a healthy, clean diet as much as possible.

2. Take Time to Find Your Perfect Scent

When you’re shopping for a new swimsuit, you don’t just grab the first cute one see, throw it in your cart, and continue with your shopping, do you?

No! You pick a few suits, try them on in the dressing room, see how you look from every angle, and maybe even ask the opinion of your friends.

The same thoroughness you apply to swimsuit shopping should be applied to buying perfume or cologne.

Don’t just pick a scent because you like the look of the bottle. Instead, give it a whiff, and most important of all, spray a small amount on your skin and leave it there for a while.

Remember, scents smell different on every single person. So, just because a perfume smells good on your friend doesn’t mean it will smell good on you. That’s why it’s important to give a perfume or cologne a “test run” before committing to buying it.

3. Use the Right Soap

The number one cause of foul body odor is bacteria build up on the skin.

The best way to get rid of that bacteria? Wash your body with soap or body wash.

But, you can’t just choose any body wash. Make sure you choose one that is anti-bacterial, as this will help your body maintain its pH level and it will rid the skin of as much bacteria as possible.

Even if you come across a body wash that smells great, it won’t do anything for getting rid of bad smells if it doesn’t have anti-bacterial properties, it will only mask them.

4. Have an On-the-Go Solution

Sometimes, no matter how much we shower, lather up, and perfume, we still end up smelling a little funky at some point during the day.

Maybe you got had to run to catch your bus, or maybe you ate at a restaurant and carried the scent with you after you left.

Whatever it is, it’s always a smart idea to have some on-the-go solutions with you when these “smell emergencies” come up.

If it’s your hair that holds smells, keep a small bottle of scented dry shampoo with you. If your armpits get smelly at the first sign of sweat, keep some deodorant wipes with you. It can also be a good idea to keep a travel-sized bottle of your favorite perfume in your purse.

5. Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated seems to be the solution to everything. And guess what? It’s a solution to smelling good as well.

When your skin is dry, it tends to absorb and dissipate perfumes at a much faster rate than if it were hydrated.

Of course, applying products, like moisturizers and oils, is a great way to keep your skin hydrated. But, drinking water is really the best way to hydrate your skin, so make sure you’re drinking enough each day.

It may sound weird, but the best way to tell if your hydrated is to check your urine. The darker shade of yellow it is, the more dehydrated you are. If your pee is almost clear with just a tinge of yellow in it, that means your hydration game is strong.

6. Give Your Home a Scent-Makeover

When many people work on smelling better, they focus solely on what they’re putting onto and into their bodies.

But, your body isn’t the only thing you should pay attention to in order to improve your smell. You also need to pay attention to how your home smells. Because the better your home smells, the more likely you are to smell good as well.

Think about it- you spend a lot of time from your home, and because of this, the scent of your home will naturally influence the way you smell as well. Now, this doesn’t mean you need to walk around your home spraying your perfume like you’re extinguishing a fire.

Instead, do simple things like change your sheets and pillowcases, use air fresheners, and put candles out.

Pretty soon, you’ll notice that both you and your house smell amazing.

7. Have Happy Feet

Are you one of those people who suffer from smelly feet from time to time?

Feet smell can be the worst due to the fact that your feet are often stuck in shoes all day, and therefore have no chance to air out. For better smelling feet you should:

  • Use a foot deodorant spray
  • Use alcohol wipes to reduce sweating
  • Use a foot powder to keep dry and free of fungus
  • Wash your feet daily
  • Put baking powder in your shoes to soak up excess moisture and prevent bacteria from festering

With these tricks, you’ll have fresh, happy feet all day long.
