Time-Saving Hacks For Busy Parents

Whether you homeschool your children or not, there will never be enough time in the day to do everything you set out to accomplish. From having to do those vital chores to getting some time to yourself, you will often find yourself struggling to squeeze everything in. Until now! Here are some time-saving hacks we think you will find useful.

Hack #1: Educate your children

We aren’t talking about items on their curriculum. We are talking about ensuring your children are future-ready, as we discussed here: http://www.theneatthingsinlife.com. If you can teach them a little responsibility in covering some of the basics – tying their shoelaces, making their own breakfast, sorting out their laundry – you will cut down on the time you usually have to spend focusing on these things.

Hack #2: Use other services

You don’t have to do everything yourself. To save yourself time, and to give you some extra me-time, offload some of your chores to others. Need to dry clean your child’s clothes? Head over to http://stitchit.co. Don’t have time for the weekly food shop? Do it online and save your time and energy by having your food delivered straight to your door. Your child is hungry, but you haven’t had time to prepare a meal? You could teach your child how to cook, but you may be safer ordering from a takeaway occasionally (healthy options are available)!

Hack #3: Prepare a rota

Why do all the jobs around the house when your family members can join in with all the ‘fun’? Prepare a rota giving everybody from the oldest to the youngest a job to do, whether it’s vacuuming the carpets or washing the dishes. Pin it up on the fridge so everybody can see what their roles are, and assuming they suddenly don’t ‘fall ill’ on the day it’s their turn to empty the kitter litter, all your household chores will be completed in double-quick time. Check out the advice given here, https://www.care.com, for what to include on your rota; not that you need much telling!

Hack #4: Cook more than you need to

You aren’t wasting food by cooking extra. Instead, you are creating less work for yourself to do in the days ahead. By making more than one batch, you can freeze any leftovers and use them for meals later in the week. You can even put them in the slow cooker, so if you know you won’t have a lot of time to prepare the evening meal, add your leftovers and other ingredients into this culinary marvel in the morning, and you will be able to enjoy the benefits later on in the day, both food-wise and time-wise.

Hack #5: Give yourself a break

Sometimes, we are busy without needing to be. In fact, many parents struggle to have down-time because they think they need to be busy doing something… all of the time! If this is you, don’t! Your children don’t need to get a bath every night. You don’t need to vacuum every room in the house. There’s no point driving yourself crazy trying to multi-task. Priorities, and if something can be left until tomorrow (assuming tomorrow’s chores aren’t building up), give yourself a break and enjoy a little downtime.

Finally

There isn’t enough time in the day to do everything, but we hope our time-saving hacks will help you today and in the future. Thanks for reading, and if you have any tips of your own, please let us know!
