I am still trying to wrap my head around this whole Avis ordeal. I should be almost to New York City right now, but instead I am sitting here trying to figure out how a company can be so crappy. I mean I understand how a company could have a few bad apples, but after what I went through and reading what others have gone through with Avis, this is a lot more than just a few bad apples. The whole company is a disgrace to the car rental field. I don’t see how a company can steal and lie to so many people, yet they remain in business to continue to lie and steal people’s money. I will make my voice be heard about this company and how they’re nothing but scammers.
After running around for 4 hours yesterday, attempting to get the vehicle I had reserved and paid for, I came home and I calmed myself down as much as I could. This was hard to do since Avis was giving me a big F U pretty much.
I got all my paperwork out, the car rental agreement, the hotel reservations and the papers I wanted on me for the trip. As I was looking over the hotel reservations, I noticed I wasn’t completely screwed on the room rental in Allentown, PA. Thankfully, Choice Hotels allows you to cancel your room rental with no charge if you do it by 4pm the day of check in.
I quickly grabbed the phone since I literally only had minutes to make this call, I was hoping I wouldn’t get put on hold forever. Luckily, I didn’t I explained to the guy on the other end, I had to cancel the room for the night. Explained we were going to be getting into town about 3am, however, due to Avis we were unable to secure the rental vehicle. Therefor, unable to make the planned trip.
This man acted like he was more sorry for the events that happened with Avis, then Avis did. He let me know I still had 7 minutes to cancel before the deadline and told me I wouldn’t be charged. He asked if I would be interested in reserving the room for another night and I told him I was only needing the room to make it to NYC the following day and Avis pretty much ruined that trip. He again told me he was sorry for the trouble I had with Avis.
I am not sure is Avis and Choice Hotels work together or are apart of the same company. If they are, Avis needs to learn more about Customer Service from Choice Hotels. I was on the phone and off the phone with Choice Hotels with zero problems and in less than 10 minutes.
Avis is another story. Every single person told me what they couldn’t do for me, not one person until the very last one told me what they could do for me and even then, I received an email stating they were keeping $150 of the money I paid for this car rental.
Thank you Choice Hotels for not making it difficult for me to cancel the room.
