An Emergency Vet Is a Lifesaver
When your beloved pet has an emergency, a well-qualified veterinarian combined with state-of-the-art surgical equipment, techniques and medicine is what you want to promptly choose in order to provide the best possible care for that important member of your family.
Whether your pet was hit by a car and has broken bones, or it swallowed a foreign object, or it has a tumor or needs a hip replacement or other type of surgery, experienced specialized surgeons with advanced training and the highest quality equipment are those that you want to have available when such a crisis occurs.
An Intensive Care Unit or Inpatient Unit is usually required after surgery. The unit is equipped with monitoring and life-support equipment and is staffed 24 hours a day by a compassionate nursing staff who will help your pet to be free of pain, be given the proper treatments, and be put on the road to recovery.
Rehabilitation therapy helps pets get over surgery faster and can also be part of your pet’s recovery. Equipment has been adapted from that used for physical therapy in people and may include exercises, underwater treadmills, massage, electrical stimulation and other methods to improve flexibility and mobility as well as strength. It also often decreases the need for pain medication.
I remember 6 years ago our dog lucky got a huge gash in his right leg. We had no emergency vets around us and no one was open on a Sunday. We hadnt even thought about it at the time but the closest emergency vet to us we had found out was 2 hours away. Luckily we were able to take care of the wound over the next 2 days.
