Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays. I remember way back from when I was a kid we would dress up in our costumes and go from door to door in the neighborhood. We always went to the houses where we knew we would get reese’s peanut butter cups and Hershey kisses, we like to refer to these houses as the “rich neighborhood”! Often times we would get full size candy bars, of course when we came home with our goodies, mom would always check the candies and put them up. It was probably a good thing because we always came home with a good pillow case full!
If I am not mistaken in the above picture I was the one in the pink hair, I was about 5 or so in that picture, but then again I could be the witch, either or one is me and one is my sister. The other picture is me in 4th grade, I am not sure what I was that year.
As I got older I still dressed up and went out with the nieces and nephew, it was our fun family time together. Then when I had a child I had to stick with the family tradition, our daughter would get dressed up and go out as well. I remember dressing her up when she was about 2 months old and taking her out, because she had to get her momma and daddy some candy!
While Reeses Peanut Butter cups were always momma and daddy’s favorite, our daughter has a love for the kit kats!
Since many in the South don’t do house to house trick or treating, we have started a new tradition in the family. We take the kids to a local ball field where a few stores get together and sponsor a fun filled night, with bounce houses, trick or treat maze, fun games, and even hayrides. Then we take the party home.
This Halloween we will be handing out some Hershey Candies, to the nieces. With living in the country and not many doing the door to door, we won’t see many trick or treaters. However, when the nieces come by they will be thrilled to see the goodies we have!
And to end the fun Halloween night we will finish it off with a graveyard cake made with Hershey kit kats, Hershey Peppermint Patties, Hershey Candy Bars, and of course Hershey Kisses and Rolos.

Parents, make sure when you send the kids out if there’s still door to door in your neighborhood, you send them in pairs, NEVER allow your child to go out a lone, make sure they don’t have a mask that will mess with their seeing, and always make sure they have a flashlight and some reflectors. When going outside in the dark you can never be to prepared.
Once the kiddos are back, make sure you check the candy well, and limit their intake, you don’t want cavities do you?
Have a Happy and Safe Halloween!
