As vacation time nears my family and I wanted to try something different. Something different than the typical Disney vacation where you spend a small fortune on tickets and then over priced hotels. While we’ve had a lot of fun in the past taking the kids to a theme park, it seems like it’s always a panicked blitzkrieg of a vacation as you spring out of bed to drive, park, and run to the park in time so that the lines for each ride will only be a half hour each. Then you spend said half hour begging your kids to behave while you wait for a ninety second long “Peter Pan’s Adventure” ride. Only to run to the next line as you shove some over priced pork sandwich down their little throats.
Just writing that paragraph above made my blood pressure go up. And after we spend a few grand before the cost of flights, if necessary, I fell like I’m less relaxed after the vacation. It feels more like a forced march than a vacation. So again, as stated above we wanted to try something different. I wanted to actually connect with the kids and find out how they’re doing, what they’re up to and have some fun while taking our time.
We looked in to a few different websites upon our consideration of renting a house or condo in some place relaxing when we stumbled across Christian Home Exchange. Since we take our faith seriously it was nice to find homes of like-minded Christians that offered their home in exchange for our for a few weeks. I never even knew this existed. Talk about piece of mind. And the best part is we found a great family that wanted to do an exchange with us and it was completely free!
