Learning Good Carbs From Bad Carbs

If I am going to try with this no or low carb thing, I guess the first thing I am going to have to do is learn which carbs are good and which ones I need to say no too. One of my weaknesses when it comes to carbs is bread and pasta. After researching good carbs and bad carbs, I learned that I pretty much already pushed away those bad carbs.

I learned the bad carbs include products such as…

Processed refined grains,
All candies, jams and jellies,
Cookies, cakes, and other sweet bakery products
Sodas, fruit juices, fruit drinks,
Bread and pasta made with any refined flour,
Pudding, custards and other sweets.

Most on that list I have already cut out, I have been trying to make sure all the pasta, and bread we consume is whole wheat. I know this is better for my family so we did make that switch. However, I do tend to use “regular” bread and pasta when it’s on sale. One thing about trying to lose weight, is the economy is not on your side. All the things you need cost more, and the bad things are not only tempting but cheap.

I have learned the good carbs I want to eat lots of include…

Vegetables such as… carrots, bell peppers, cabbage, green beans, green peas, cucumbers, celery, olives, onions, spinach, squash, yams, and even sweet potatoes. I want to hit those leafy greens hard!

Fruits include some of the following… apples, bananas, blueberries, plums, lemons, cherries, grapes, strawberries, and even watermelon. These are my favorite fruits, I know if I eat more fruits and vegetables, it will help me in a big way with fighting the fat.

Other good carbs that I can have include… kidney beans, chickapeas, lima beans, black eyed peas, split peas, steel cut oat, brown rice, whole wheat pasta and breads.

I know if I can completely rid myself of those bad carbs, it would make losing weight a lot easier.
