Treatment For Post Traumatic Stress

Have you ever had something so traumatic happen to you to where you have nightmares about it today. Or maybe it is something that is always on your mind? I have, roughly 24 years ago, the home my family lived in caught fire, due to this fire my baby brother died. He was only four years old, and I was 8. To this day this experience still haunts me. It bothers me so bad, my 10 year old just recently went to her own room at night.

If you have ever experience something like this it is important that you seek help. Often times people do not feel anything is wrong, but post traumatic stress disorder treatment is necessary. By reaching out for help it will allow you to heal and move on with your life. I received counseling through school, however, it wasn’t enough. I should have continued my treatment once I got older.

When I go to bed at night, the thought of the home catching fire is always on my mine, I refuse to live in a two story home for this same reason. My brother’s death hit me hard, and although it has been over 24 years, I will never get over it. It will always be there, I will often make excuses up to get my daughter to sleep in my bed at night, because with her by me, I feel I can better protect her if something were to happen.

Don’t let a traumatic situation effect your life like it has mine.
