We all know compete is not accurate. However most PR Firms use compete to see an estimate of users on ones site. With this being said when I got on my site today and I seen only 970 unique and 150k+ visits for the month of July I new something was wrong… I went into the other sites I use to measure my traffic and sure enough compete was way off.
So I started wondering how compete figures out their stats. The other sites I had to add code to my site to keep track, they neither, are 100% accurate, but they come close.
I start googling only to find compete bases its numbers on a tool bar. So if most your traffic never heard of this tool bar before, compete will show your numbers way off.
I personally am not all that keen to having multiple tool bars on my browser, running tool bars only bog down your browser and make your computer run sluggish.
